I can completely relate to this summary from Creative Digest on the difficulties of freelancing. More of often than not, I am asked what it’s like not having a boss and how great it is being able to do what I want, when I want – but this couldn’t be further from the truth. I actually have many different bosses and wherever I am, I am always ‘on call’. There is no ‘clock watching’ when you work solo, you are always on the clock. Clients are relying on you to produce high quality stuff; you cannot switch off at the weekends and leave your worries at the office. Freelancing can be both exhilarating and scary, but is never the free ride that many sometimes think it is.
